Medical Grade Footwear

Medical grade footwear (MGF) are shoes made to assist with walking when confronted with foot or leg problems, especially when those problems cause pain. The shoes are constructed with extra depth and width, good stability and a stitch-free inner toe box. These shoes are not only recommended for walking difficulties, but also act as a preventative measure for future complications.

Our orthotist can assess, prescribe, measure and fit medical grade footwear to suit your needs. We offer shoes in various styles and colours. We also custom make shoes for when a prefabricated shoe is unsuitable.

What are the benefits of medical grade footwear?

Medical grade footwear is designed to relieve the foot or leg from pain by giving proper support and accommodating the foot’s shape.

Proper support assissts in correcting or maintaining the alignment of the foot and leg when standing. The shoe provides a stable base of support for those who have difficulty with balance.

The accommodating nature of MGF reduces skin breakdown by preventing excessive pressure on the feet, increasing comfort and helping maintain healthy blood flow.
