Compression Garments

Compression garments assist the body in moving fluid (ie. blood) away from the extremities, and towards the torso. It does this by providing graduated compression, where the force is greatest around the extremity (ie. foot and ankle) and decreases as it moves closer to the torso. Compression garments come in various levels of compression, lengths, styles and colours.

Align Orthotics understands the importance of a well fitted compression garment. A poorly fitted compression garment will disrupt the graduated compression and do more damage than benefit. During a consultation, our orthotist will assess your needs to determine the appropriate level of compression (class), size and length of the garment. We will also teach you simple methods of putting on and taking off your garment, and provide you with instructions regarding how to take care of it. We fit garments for both the legs and arms. We also offer custom made compression garments for when your measurements don’t match the prefabricated garment’s.
